Playbox was created by a diverse group of founders with deep roots in sport, personally, professionally, and across continents. The team includes sports enthusiasts from Finland, the UK, Pakistan, and New Zealand, united by a shared belief in the power of sport to bring people together.
Some of the founders have been instrumental in developing cricket in Finland, including former players from the Finnish National Team and representatives from three clubs competing in the Finnish Cricket Premier League. Others bring decades of experience from the sports, media, and entertainment industries, having built digital platforms and content for global audiences. And from New Zealand, the team draws on a family-run business operating indoor sprung-net sports centres, designed especially for cricket and football which became the inspiration for what Playbox is today.

In Finland, the long, dark winters make it especially hard to play outdoor sports like cricket and football for much of the year. Despite growing demand, there are limited options for high-quality, year-round facilities. The founders saw an opportunity to combine their unique backgrounds, grassroots sports development, international competition, digital innovation, and operational expertise to create something new.
Playbox is the first of its kind in the Nordic region, and one of the first in Europe: a fully enclosed, sprung-net sports environment designed to offer safe, weather-independent access to a wide range of ball sports. Cricket (hard-ball, tape-ball, and academy training), football, floorball, field hockey, dodgeball, and more. All can be played in a compact, flexible, and inclusive format.
More than just a venue, Playbox is a platform: for people to play, train, connect, and build community no matter the season, skill level, or background.
